Summer 2010 Events

The coming June, July and August months are filled with fun events around the Church Avenue community. From a house tour of Victorian Flatbush and a graffiti clean up day to free martial arts classes, there's a little something for everyone.


Flatbush Graffiti Clean Up Day June 5, 2010 10:00am - 2:00pm
graffiti_flyer_jpegThe BID will be holding its annual graffiti clean up day on June 5th. In previous years volunteers have removed hundreds of incidents of graffiti and we hope this year is even bigger. The BID will again be partnering with the Flatbush Development Corporation (FDC), 70th Precinct, the Brooklyn Borough President's Graffiti Free Brooklyn program and local volunteers to paint over graffiti on and around the Church Avenue community. Click here for a flyer and the full details.

Sustainable Flatbush Community Garden Visioning Sessions June 6, 4:00pm & June 16, 6:00pm
sustainable_flatbushSustainable Flatbush is collaborating with the Flatbush Reformed Church to create a new community garden! Join them in a creative brainstorming session to plan this new neighborhood green space being held at the Flatbush Reformed Church, 890 Flatbush Avenue. The Flatbush Farmshare, a community-supported agriculture (CSA) project linking Brooklynites with The Farm at Miller's Crossing, will be holding a fundraiser on Saturday, June 5th at 1118 Cortelyou Road. The event will include food, live music, raffle prizes and a chance to win a season's share of organic produce. Admission is $15 or $30 for VIP tickets. Victorian Flatbush House Tour June 13, 2010 1:00pm - 6:00pm
On June 13th Victorian Homes of Flatbush open their doors to the public for the FDC's annual house tour. The tour starts at Temple Beth Emeth (83 Marlborough Rd., at Church Ave.) at 1 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance, or $25 day of tour. Community Board 14 Monthy Meeting June 14, 2010 7:30pm

Church Avenue Sidewalk Sales June 25-27th, 2010 and August 20-22nd, 2010
